Reimagining Addictions: Integrating Disability Justice Principles into Therapeutic Practice
Thursday, February 27, 2025, 6-8PM (Zoom)
with Margot Matheson, RSW, BSW

How can we center justice-based and relational approaches when addressing addictions in therapy and beyond? This transformative workshop invites mental health professionals to rethink dominant narratives and embrace Disability Justice (DJ) principles in therapeutic practice.
 What You’ll Learn:
  • Unpack the prevailing models in therapy and addictions, including the biopsychosocial model and public health policies.
  • Explore key Disability Justice principles and their transformative relevance in reframing addictions.
  • Gain practical tools to integrate these principles into your work through guided reflection and roleplay.
Facilitator:
Margot Matheson (she/her), RSW, BSW
Margot brings over a decade of experience in addictions, spanning harm reduction, emergency housing, and clinical practice. Margot is dedicated to reimagining addictions through a Disability Justice lens. Currently completing her MSW, she’s researching anti-stigma policies in Ontario.
This is a great opportunity to learn, reflect, and grow in your practice.
