Community Guidelines

The purpose of the Hard Feelings Book Club is to facilitate a space for learning and discussion where all are welcome and encouraged to share their thoughts on the particular book we’ve chosen for the month. We value community, equity, diversity, inclusion, respect, and safety. Therefore, it is imperative that comments are written using inclusive language, free of harassment, obscenities, profanity, and don’t express hatred or intolerance for anyone on the basis of race, ethnicity, nationality, gender or gender identity, religion, sexual orientation, age, or disability, which includes the promotion of organizations with such views. While participants are allowed to express varying opinions and not everyone will share the same views, comments must be written with respect, and not shame, discriminate or invalidate other opinions.

While our aim is to select books that offer insight, education and support, topics discussed may feel heavy and even triggering for some. If this is the case, please be mindful of the way you feel and take any necessary steps to relieve the discomfort that you’re experiencing. Take a step away from the discussion, put the book down, drink a glass of water, stretch for a few minutes, take a short walk, call a trusted friend. Please refer to our resource list to find crisis lines and immediate help.

Content posted on the Hard Feelings Book Club discussion board must relate to topics discussed within the book we’ve chosen to read. While it's normal to stray from related topics and discuss other ideas that come up, please try to stay within the realm of the topics at hand in order to maintain a relevant discussion that is inclusive and engaging for all participants.

All comments will be moderated and will be approved before being posted. Those who do not adhere to the community guidelines will not have their comments approved.

The same guidelines must be followed for our virtual meetings. Although in this format we can't moderate comments, those who do not adhere to the community guidelines will be removed from the discussion.
