Jennifer Lee Copping

I'm a 30-year-old bisexual disabled woman, creating art and going to school for art therapy in the GTA. As a person who has been dealing with severe mental illness nearly all of their life, in a way, every piece of art I make is connected to mental health. Some works directly explore my life as a person with schizoaffective disorder (among other ailments) and how it affects my life and relationships as well as prejudice, stigma and oppression I face as a disabled person. Other pieces are artistic explorations of my disability and at the end of it all, every piece of art I make is part of my self-care as a disabled person.

Art for me is a way to parse my lived experience into something manageable, and hopefully something helpful and funny. I make work that makes me happy, and that will hopefully make others happy too!
